Many people involved in the violence that broke out after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran were arrested. These people were sentenced by military courts. However, at least 20 people have now been released in view of Eid. It is being said that these people have been released after the pardon given by Army Chief General Asim Munir.
The Supreme Court was hearing the Intra-Court Appeal (ICA) against the order. The six-member bench comprises Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Syed Hajar Hasan Rizvi, Justice Shahid Wahid, Justice Mussarat Hilali and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan. These prisoners were released on Monday after the order of the Supreme Court.
This order was given on March 28
The violence erupted after the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party chief Imran Khan. Meanwhile, several people allegedly involved in attacks on military installations were arrested. Now a new decision has come in the case related to 103 citizens. During the last hearing on March 28, the court had given conditional verdict to the military officers, who could be released before the Eid festival.
released because of this
Now a report submitted to the Supreme Court said that in compliance with the March 28 directive, military courts were allowed to resume hearings. The report said that 20 people were sentenced to one year, of which 17 people were sentenced to 10 and a half months and three people were sentenced to 9 and a half months. Since most of them spent about 10 months in jail, the Army Chief waived off the remaining period. Four of them are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while the other 16 are from Punjab. They were released to their respective provinces on 6 and 7 April.
